Changes to Anima Access arrangements

Anima changes 1st October 2025

As a practice team we have been working with patient feedback over the last few years to improve access to appointments. We know that for most of you, you can usually have your query reviewed by a GP and be sent some advice or an appointment in a very timely way. We know that it is frustrating that sometimes we reach our safe working limits and have to close Anima for new clinical queries.

You may be aware that a new government directive means that we now have to remain open for routine online requests and administrative queries for all of the time that the practice is open. This change has come without any extra staffing, so we are trying to do our best to make this work for everyone.

We will support our patients by trying to deal with urgent issues first, and prioritising those who need our help quickly. This means that those who have a non urgent problem may have to wait longer to be dealt with. We have no way of knowing how much extra demand this change in working might bring us.

You can help us by letting us know early in the day if you think you have a problem that might need to be dealt with urgently. Please don't submit an urgent Anima unless you are available to come in for an appointment or receive a phone call on the day.  We will help you by communicating what is happening with your requests, and letting you know as soon as possible what the GP advises for your problem. Please remember that our team are adapting to a new way of working and we may not always get it right first time.

Thank you for your understanding and your support of the practice.
