Our Surgery in numbers - The following information highlights the size and activity of our practice.
We are often asked why patients have to wait on the phone, or why a doctor "can't just ring me today" or why the next routine appointment is 3 weeks away, so we wanted to share some statistics about our practice population.
We have 12650 registered patients. We would need 160 double decker buses to fit you all in.
In our practice population, 269 of you are over 90.
196 of you are under 1.
93 of you are currently receiving palliative care.
We know that it can be frustrating to have to wait, but please remember that we are doing our best. You don't need to know the details of what is happening for everyone, but please remember that we have had a lot of practice at looking after a lot of people, and that a publicly funded service has its limitations.
When we ask you to go to the hospital it is because they have training and equipment to do things that we literally cannot do here in the practice. We have no control of what happens there and we won't ask you to go without good reason.
Having said that, we are very grateful for the fact that in our regular patient surveys, usually around 90% of you describe our service as "good" or "very good."
Thank you as always to the vast majority of you who are respectful and supportive of our staff, and who recognise the challenges that we face.
