What is a Patient Participation Group (PPG)?
Our PPG is a group of registered patients and practice staff who meet quarterly to discuss the practice and explore how we can continue to improve the services and facilities we provide for our community. The group offers valuable insight into patient experience and helps shape the development of our services.
What is the purpose of a PPG?
- For the practice and the group to work together on ideas that could enhance the service.
- For the practice to better understand the patient perspective and encourage constructive feedback.
- To actively welcome comments and suggestions from members of the local and wider community.
What is our aim in forming a PPG?
We aim to have an active and engaged Patient Participation Group that meets every quarter with representatives from the practice. These meetings provide an opportunity to discuss topical issues, share views on planned service developments, and raise matters that may help improve the standard of care we offer.
Together with our PPG we aim to:
- Provide resources and services for the benefit of our practice population that may not otherwise be available through statutory services.
- Encourage a spirit of self‑help and support among patients to improve health and wellbeing.
- Strengthen communication between the practice, the PPG and the wider community.
- Promote a patient perspective and help patients make the best use of available healthcare.
Our PPG ground rules:
- The group is not a forum for individual complaints or single issues.
- We encourage open and honest communication.
- Silence indicates agreement - members are encouraged to speak up.
- All views are valid and will be listened to respectfully.
